The Zoloti Vorota, or “Golden Gate,” metro station in Kyiv, named after the main gates to Kyivan Rus’ in the 11th century, stands as one of Europe’s most beautiful. Its architecture and 80 intricate mosaics vividly depict the rich history of Kyivan Rus’. These stunning art pieces portray a rich tapestry of figures, including Kyiv’s Grand Princes, ancient churches, and even curious mythical creatures from Ukrainian folklore.
